Meet some of our wonderful supporters

Thank you Lisa Mullins

Lisa’s connection to Starship began fourteen years ago when her daughter Mikayla (pictured here with mum) was diagnosed with neurofibromatosis.

In recent years, Lisa has held a quiz night, Facebook competitions, and running events to raise money for the Starship Foundation. In total, she has raised well in excess of $10,000.
A huge thank you to Lisa and all our community fundraisers for your unwavering support in 2020.

Lisa says “It is nice to give back for all that Starship has done for us.”

Thank you

Gurpreet Singh Rana

Gurpreet and his wife Aman have been monthly donors to the Starship Foundation since their son Ajeet was born 10 weeks premature. They remember fondly the outstanding care they received in Starship’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit a (NICU) during such a vulnerable time. They want other families to have the same care that Ajeet, now a bouncy 4-year-old, received. “If the money we give makes the experience easier for someone else, then it’s more than worth it,” says Gurpreet.

Remembering Athlae Lyon

A founding member of the Friends of Starship, and later long-serving member of the Starship Foundation’s Board of Trustees, Athlae Lyon’s enthusiasm and commitment to Starship spanned over 20 years.

The Athlae Lyon Starship Research Trust, established in 2010 in Athlae’s memory, has played a foundational role in strengthening Starship’s research culture. In 2020, the Trust gifted $3.35M to continue funding a preeminent research grant in perpetuity, as well as funding a new medical day stay unit as part of the PICU expansion and redevelopment of Starship.

I am very pleased that Athlae’s memory will live on at Starship through naming of the Athlae Lyon Medical Day Stay Unit.

Cliff Lyon, Athlae’s husband and founder of the Trust

The new unit is expected to open in 2023.
